These fraudsters often use fake caller IDs that mimic the institution's contact details and may claim that there are fraudulent transactions on your account that require immediate action.
How to Protect Yourself:
- Verify First: If you receive a suspicious call, email, or text message claiming to be from Service First, do not provide any personal information. Instead, hang up and contact us directly using the number on the back of your card or through our website at servicefirstfcu.org.
- Be Skeptical: Financial institutions will never ask you to purchase gift cards or send money transfers to resolve issues. Such requests are red flags of a scam.
- Inspect Emails: Be cautious of unexpected emails or messages. Verify the sender's email address and look for signs of phishing, such as poor grammar or strange requests.
